Second print run
It was during a boat-ride on the Thames with the three daughters of the Master of the College at which he worked that Lewis Carroll imagined the adventures of the young Alice following the white rabbit and finding herself in an enchanted, enchanting and disturbing land.
The original manuscript is preserved at the British Library. It is written and illustrated entirely in Lewis Carroll's hand.
Who could have predicted the immense success that such an impromptu story, thought up of during a friendly stroll along the Thames river, would soon have?
The document, which is entirely handwritten and illustrated by Lewis Carroll, was drafted upon the request of young Miss Alice Liddell, the 'real Alice'. Carroll then gave it to her as a Christmas gift in 1862.
The first is Lewis Carroll’s handwritten and illustrated manuscript. The second is a French translation of the book, illustrated by John Tenniel.
An edition limited to 1,000 hand numbered copies
This edition will be released in two separate print runs: the first, blue, and hand numbered from 1 to 1,000, the second, ivory colored, and limited to 1,000 copies. Each pair of books is held in a handmade slipcase.
